Postpartum hair loss—so many new mom’s go through this yet it’s often one of those things that everyone forgets to warn you about. We are here to guide you through this slightly scary time in your life, together we got this. You may be asking…
Why exactly will I experience hair loss postpartum?
During your pregnancy, you may notice your hair feels thicker and healthier than ever before. This is because of the increase in estrogen levels that your body produces, which keeps your hair follicles in the “growth phase” for longer than usual. During postpartum, your estrogen level can drop significantly below regular levels, leading to more hair loss than usual.
Will I begin losing my hair right away? And once it begins, when will it stop?
Hair loss will most likely begin 3-4 months postpartum, and the amount of hair you lose will vary from person to person. The loss usually subsides 6-12 months postpartum.
So, is there any way to prevent or lessen this loss?
According to @melissawoodhealth , the answer is yes! "I was losing hair on both sides of my head and it was so thin and brittle— but since using Act+Acre I can honestly say my hair has never felt better and it grows like a weed”.
Although some loss is inevitable, use products (be it Act+Acre, or another brand!) that are designed to deliver nutrients directly to your hair follicle. This will strengthen your hair and promote better circulation overall, supporting healthy growth and minimizing loss.
Should I begin using your products before pregnancy?
Absolutely! This will give you time to nourish and strengthen your hair as much as possible before you begin experiencing hair loss.
Anything else that I can do to help?
Additionally, we suggest frequently giving yourself head massages to assist in further stimulation of the scalp. Also, as difficult as it may be, try tying your hair up as little as possible to limit excess tension on the scalp, and ensure that you are getting all of your necessary nutrients through a balanced diet and lifestyle.
