Summer Hair Care Tips + Tricks
3 min read

Sweet summertime—the days are longer, the air is warmer, and life feels a little easier—with the exception of our hair care routine, that is. Luckily, we’ve rounded up the most common summer hair-related issues and provided our most helpful tips and tricks to help keep them at bay.

Summer Problem: Frizz from humidity

We’ve all been there—spending an extra 15 minutes in the morning perfecting your hair, only to step outside and have your perfect waves frizz up and fall flat.

Solution: We recommend swapping out your old shampoo and conditioner for ones that contain natural oils. This will help keep your hair smooth and protected from excess moisture in the air, resulting in less frizz when you step outside.

Summer Problem: Sun-damaged hair

Just like hot tools, heat from the sun can also damage our hair. UV rays can cause more harm than you may think, so it’s important to take as many precautions as possible to preserve the health of your hair.

Solution: Hats, scarves, and bandanas are a great way to fully protect your hair from the sun. Incorporating a scalp sunscreen and hair oil containing SPF are also great to implement on hat-free days. Finally, ditch the hot tools as much as possible, and opt for natural beach waves or boho braids. This will help minimize excess damage as much as possible.

Summer Problem: An oily scalp

During peak summer days when the weather is almost unbearably hot, you probably notice that your scalp gets oilier than normal, which can often leave your locks looking limp. While there is not much you can do about how much your scalp sweats, you can prevent that sweat from building up.

Solution: Make sure you are frequently detoxing your scalp to prevent a build-up of sweat, oil, and dead skin. Not only will it help improve your overall scalp health, but it will also leave your scalp feeling cleaner than ever—making those hot, sticky days a bit more bearable.
